Queen for a day

At the suggestion of a friend, here is a completed project from a few years ago. This dress was so much fun. It all started with the gold silk and red velvet which had been in a grab bag at a photo studio prop sale. They just called out to me. I hunted down this brocade fabric and made the plung during a 50% off sale at Joann's. I had really wanted to try this pattern and it was really quite simple. This was the most detailed dress I had done, so it was a great accomplishment. I had recently discovered that I love hand sewing, so I had to sew all those pearls on the trim. That year I went to the Rennaisance Festival for a home school outing and all the little girls decided that I was the queen. Once I was in jeans again I lost all respect. Sigh.
